The Institute of Information Theory and Automation (UTIA) is a public non-university research institution which administratively falls under the Czech Academy of Sciences. UTIA conducts fundamental and applied research in computer science, signal and image processing, pattern recognition, system science, and control theory. In addition to its research activities, UTIA is engaged in undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate education. It also publishes the journal Kybernetika and acts as a certified forensic expert institution. UTIA consists of eight scientific departments, computer centre, library, facility maintenance department and business administration department. UTIA is managed by the Director and the Board.

Research Professor title
Dr. Filip Šroubek, Res.Prof. received the scientific title "Research Professor in Physico-Mathematical Sciences" from the President of the Czech Academy of Sciences on October 14, 2015.
WUPES'15

A series of Workshops on Uncertainty Processing (WUPES) has been held in the Czech Republic every third year since 1988. Proceedings from several previous workshops can be found on their websites ( WUPES'12, WUPES'09, and WUPES'06). Like the previous meetings the forthcoming Workshop will foster creative intellectual activities and the exchange of ideas in an informal atmosphere.

Jan Flusser received the Felber Medal
On June 16, 2015, the Czech Technical University awarded Prof. Jan Flusser the Felber Medal for his outstanding achievements in research and teaching.
Prémie Otto Wichterleho pro Kamila Dedecia
Předseda Akademie věd ČR udělil na základě doporučení komise prémii Otto Wichterleho pro rok 2015 mladým nadějným vědeckým pracovníkům AV ČR. Mezi oceněnými je také Kamil Dedecius z oddělení Adaptivních systémů, UTIA.
Spring School on Variational Analysis 2015

Following a longstanding tradition, the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University in Prague and the Instutite of Information Theory and Automation of the Czech Academy of Sciences will organize the 43rd Spring School on Analysis.

The School will be held at Paseky nad Jizerou, in a chalet in the Krkonose Mountains, April 19 -25, 2015.

Best Student Paper Award
Jan Kotera, Ph.D. student in the Dept. of Image Processing (ZOI), received the Best Student Paper award at the Digital Photography and Mobile Imaging XI conference at IS&T/SPIE Electronic Imaging held in San Francisco, USA, for the paper "Blind Deconvolution of images with model discrepancies using maximum a posteriori estimation with heavy tailed priors", co-authored by Filip Sroubek.
Winter school of MTR, 2015

The Winter School of Department of Decision-Making Theory is a popular meeting point of students and researchers from the department and other colaborating researchers from several Czech institutions as well as guests from abroad. It is held in the UTIA's chalet. The program of the 2015 edition of the MTR Winter School will consist mainly of tutorial talks given by participants.
