The purpose of this work is to generalize the well-known mathematical and numerical procedure for linear-quadratic optimization respecting causality, the algebraical approach, from the case of 1-D systems to 2-D. Both the mathematical theory and the control theory applications are presented. The work aims to contribute both to the theory and to the application
