(eng): We discuss an application of family of Bayesian network models - known as models of independence of casual influence (ICI) - to classification tasks with large numbers of attributes. An example of such a task is categorization of text documents, where attributes are single words from the documents. The key that enabled application of the ICI models is their compact representation using a hidden variable. We address the issue of learning by an computationally efficient implementation of the EM algorithm.

(cze): V článku popisujeme použití třídy modelů bayesovských sítí - známé jako modely s kauzální nezávislostí - v oblasti klasifikace při velkém množství atributů. Příkladem takovéto úlohy je klasifikace textových dokumentů. Klíčem k úspěšnému použití těchto modelů je jejich kompaktní reprezentace pomocí skryté proměnné. Úlohu učení těchto modelů řešíme efektivní implementací EM-algoritmu.
