(eng): The book provides the mathematical description of probabilistic conditional independence structures. A non-graphical algebraic approach is presented. The monograph presents the methods of structural imsets and supermodular functions, and deals with independence implication and equivalence of structural imsets. Motivation, mathematical foundations and areas of application are included, and a rough overview of graphical methods is also given. The elementary mathematical notions are recalled in the Appendix.

(cze): Kniha poskytuje matematický popis pravděpodobnostních struktur podmíněné nezávislosti. Je presentován negrafický algebraický přístup. Monografie přináší metody strukturálních imsetů a supemodulárních funkcí, zabývá se nezávislostní implikací a ekvivalencí strukturálních imsetů. Je zahrnuta motivace, matematické základy a oblasti aplikace. Rovněž je obsažen hrubý nástin grafických metod. Elementární matematické pojmy jsou zopakovány v dodatku.
