Our colleagues won 2015 Best UTIA Paper prize

Ondřej Tichý a Václav Šmídl have been awarded the first prize in the Best UTIA Paper competition for their paper:

  • Tichý Ondřej, Šmídl Václav: Bayesian Blind Separation and Deconvolution of Dynamic Image Sequences Using Sparsity Priors. IEEE Transaction on Medical Imaging, vol. 34, no. 1, January 2015

Lubomír Bakule has been awarded the third place for the paper:

The aim of this subject is to introduce selected advanced control techniques such as adaptive linear quadratic control, predictive control, and approximate dynamic programming (including neuro-control and reinforcement learning) as tools for design of optimal control strategy. Some of these techniques are well established in other fields but their application in electrical engineering is just at the beginning. The methods will be explained on simple tutorial problems and further developed according to the focus of each student.

The aim of this subject is to teach theory and application of statistical tools that can be used to estimate systems with unknown parameters, unknown state of structure. The basic model to study is linear regression, which is the basis of the least squares method, however it can be used to model more advanced tasks such as structure estimation.
